USCIS Publishes New Guideline About Living in the United States

On June 7 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced a new publication available on the web at http://uscis.gov/graphics/citizenship/welcomeguide/index.htm or for purchase from the U.S. Government Printing Office by calling 1-866-512-1800. Called Welcome to the United States: A Guide for New Immigrants, the guide includes information about many aspects of living in the United States, about rights and responsibilities of permanent residents, and about the workings of the federal government. This 112-page publications appears to contain some very useful information for immigrants and non-immigrants alike. However, as far as it concerns legal advice, be warned that it presents an overly simplistic explanation of various legal issues, such as maintenance of permanent resident status and becoming a United States citizen. Don't depend upon this publication for legal advice!
